James Lynch
1999 - 2001
James Lynch lives and works in Melbourne. He was a Gertrude Studio artist between 1999 and 2001. Lynch has a BA of Fine Art, Painting from the Victorian College of the Arts (1996) and an MA of Fine Art from the University of Melbourne (2008-2010). Selected solo exhibitions include You're Unreal at Gertrude Contemporary (2000); Inside of me is such a part of you at Mori Gallery, Sydney (2003); Le Grand Cafe at Galerie Frank Elbaz, Paris (2004); The drunken soldier and other melodies at Tokyo Wonder Site, Tokyo (2007); Always in our thoughts at Michael Lett Gallery in Auckland (2009); Works and bills at Neon Parc, Melbourne (2013). Lynch has also been involved in numerous group shows across Australia and internationally, curated multiple shows, and has had a number of writings published. Lynch has been the recipient of several awards including the 2001 Australian Council for the Arts Visual Arts and Craft Board New Work Grand Los Angeles studio residency, and the 2007 Asialink visual art residency, Tokyo, Japan.
