In 2025, Gertrude celebrates forty years as an organisation, cultural advocate and evolving community. Unique as an organisation in Australia and the region, with dual emphasis as a space of both production and presentation, its history includes more than 300 artists participating in its 2-year Studio Program, presenting new projects and exhibitions by thousands of artists, and public programs and initiatives supporting generations of artists, writers, curators and performers.
Your donation will go directly to the development and presentation of our 40th anniversary artistic program, which will be presented at Gertrude Contemporary throughout the year.
Since 1985, Gertrude has supported contemporary artists to produce and present new works and has been central to the development of many leading artistic careers. This year, we’re celebrating this legacy through Past is Prologue: Four Decades of Gertrude, a series of exhibitions at Gertrude Contemporary, along with a new publication reflecting on the last twenty years.
