In 2025, Gertrude celebrated 40 years as an organisation, cultural advocate and evolving community. Our 40th anniversary artistic program consisted of a series of exhibitions at Gertrude Contemporary, Past is Prologue: Four Decades of Gertrude, which could not have happened without your support. Alongside this includes an upcoming publication reflecting on the last twenty years, which will be launched later this year.
Since 1985, Gertrude has supported contemporary artists to produce and present new works and has been central to the development of many leading artistic careers. Unique as an organisation in Australia and the region, with dual emphasis as a space of both production and presentation, its history includes more than 300 artists that have participated in its 2-year Studio Program, presenting new projects and exhibitions by thousands of artists, along with public programs and initiatives supporting new generations of artists, writers, curators and performers.
Your donations go directly to the development and presentation of Gertrude’s ambitious artistic program, presented at both Gertrude Contemporary and Gertrude Glasshouse.
