Across three nights, 24-26 July 2025, Gertrude, Performance Review and PAGEANT Present: Contact High: New York, a free showcase of Australian performance practice.

Performance Review and Gertrude’s Contact High program is presented for the first time in New York, with new works by Brian Fuata, Rebecca Jensen and Brooke Stamp.

Piloted from 2022-2024, Contact High was a performance program curated by Performance Review at Gertrude, Naarm Melbourne, exploring the relationship between performance and the gallery, and troubling the transference between audiences and performers that occurs there.

Shifting between the personal and the planetary, the psychic and the embodied, the rehearsed and the improvised, Contact High: New York is an opportunity for international audiences to dip their toe into the Australian performance scene. Tickets are available via PAGEANT

As performance becomes an increasingly prominent mode of international practice, Contact High: New York, sees Gertrude and Performance Review extrapolate their successful performance presentation model, to situate Australian performance within a crucial international context.

In addition to these performances, from 2pm on Sunday 20 July at 99 Canal, New York, Curator Jeanette Bisschops of Performance Talks will chair a panel discussion with Brian Fuata, Rebecca Jensen and Brooke Stamp. This discussion will centre on the works these artists are presenting at Contact High: New York and will frame these artists’ practices for a New York audience.

This project has been assisted by the Australian Government through Creative Australia, its principal arts investment and advisory body, and has been generously supported by The Keir Foundation.
