Even the discipline of physics, whose laws once went unchallenged, has had to submit to the indignity of an Uncertainty Principle. In this climate of disbelief, we have begun to doubt even fundamental propositions, and the old distinction between natural and supernatural has become meaningless.” - Lyall Watson
Supernature: A Natural History of the Supernatural. Otherworld brought together four artists whose drawing and printmaking practices explore the collision of biology and natural science with mysticism, psychedelia and occult phenomena. In a culture where reality and the laws of nature are defined in impossibly narrowing terms, the artists of Otherworld presented complex alternate worlds and systems of representation which playfully imagined new worlds, new life and new realities. With allusions to religion, occult practices, atavistic traditions and scientific principles, the artists of Otherworld activated the spontaneous and free-associative qualities of drawing to probe the super-rationalised culture of today.
